dc.description | The evolution of civilization has been marked by technological advances that improve our quality of life. Cities, centers of economic and cultural activity, offer great opportunities, but also present significant challenges such as overcrowding, pollution and loss of green spaces. These urban problems generate serious environmental and health consequences, such as the decrease in biodiversity and the appearance of diseases. The concept of biomimicry, which is based on imitating the principles of nature to solve human problems, is proposed as an innovative solution to these challenges. This approach seeks to recover deteriorated urban ecosystems, improve green and blue infrastructure, and promote urban agriculture. In Bogotá, areas such as Suba and Kennedy, affected by high population density and pollution, can benefit from these strategies. Biomimicry could transform them into more sustainable and habitable environments, reducing CO2 emissions and recovering green areas. Thus, architects and urban planners can create more resilient cities in harmony with nature. | spa |
dc.description.abstract | La evolución de la civilización ha sido marcada por avances tecnológicos que mejora nuestra calidad de vida. Las ciudades, centros de actividad económica y cultural, ofrecen grandes oportunidades, pero también presentan desafíos significativos como el hacinamiento, la contaminación y la pérdida de espacios verdes. Estos problemas urbanos generan graves consecuencias ambientales y de salud, como la disminución de la biodiversidad y la aparición de enfermedades. El concepto de biomimesis, que se basa en imitar los principios de la naturaleza para resolver problemas humanos, se propone como una solución innovadora para estos desafíos. Este enfoque busca recuperar los ecosistemas urbanos deteriorados, mejorar la infraestructura verde y azul, y fomentar la agricultura urbana. En Bogotá, zonas como Suba y Kennedy, afectadas por alta densidad poblacional y contaminación, pueden beneficiarse de estas estrategias. La biomimesis podría transformarlas en entornos más sostenibles y habitables, reduciendo la emisión de CO2 y recuperando áreas verdes.
