Abstract: | A surface disinfectant for domestic use, was developed from a partially polar fraction of the Andean Paramo specie: Drimys granadensis. The purpose of this project is to propose an organic alternative to the chemical synthetized products. To do so, the vegetal extract was fractionized with four increasing polar solvents: hexane, chloroform, acetone and methanol. For each one of them, the antibacterial properties and the minimum inhibitory concentration were evaluated, in four bacterial strains: Staphylococus aureus, Staphylococus epidermis, Escherichia coli y Klebsiella pneumoniae, The results established that the acetone fraction presented the greater effectiveness, with a MIC of 15 mg/ml. According to the previous results, a phytochemical screening was developed through Thin-Layer Chromatography and detecting reagents, identifying Tannins and Cardiotonics, mostly. |
